Energy Efficiency Grant Opportunities for Wastewater Treatment Facilities
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) has launched a new grant program to help wastewater treatment facilities enhance energy efficiency and reduce costs. The Florida Local Government Water and Wastewater Treatment Facility Energy Efficiency Program offers $5 million in grant funding to assist rural Florida counties in reducing energy consumption and costs at their wastewater treatment plants. The program specifically includes floating solar systems as eligible projects for funding.
This FDACS program complements federal initiatives like Department of Energy grants by offering $250,000 to $750,000 to eligible publicly owned water and wastewater treatment facilities. These grants support implementing innovative energy-saving technologies such as energy-efficient motors, pumps, lighting, nutrient recovery, boilers, blowers, and more. Facilities may qualify for the Investment Tax Credit (ITC) of up to 50% of the total project cost, significantly reducing your investment burden.
